Lure Used: XPS Z9R Perch
I had to go to Naperville today on business and as I was driving west on 103rd street I rolled down the window to get some fresh air. The very distinct smell of early spring pond weeds soon filled the Jeep and I literally almost slammed on the brakes. I SMELL BASS! I turned north at the first street I could. Just a little bit more and I was sure that I would find a pond that was loaded with huge hungry bass.
I pulled up to a park and sure enough there was a nice little pond just waiting for me. Then I thought to myself what a dork I was since I was at Tall Grass park. I have been there many times. I scrambled to get my gear and thought about whether today was the day that I get to land Hogzilla. For those that don't know what Hogzilla is search Hogzilla on DuPageAngler.com. OK back to my story. I threw every type of lure I had. The algae is coming in thick and fast already so I was kind of bummed out.
I was about ready to pack it up and get skunked once again but I decided to tie on my new Bass Pro Shops® XPS Z9R Perch Swimbait. I didn't know what to expect but I was determined to give it a good 15 minutes. First cast WHAM!!! A decent bass nailed it with great intensity and it broke water twice. So far I like the XPS Z9R Perch but it is still early. Either way, it made my boring ride home very exciting.
