Date Of My Catch:4/20/2014

I was having a great weekend already, having caught 2 18 inch, 4 poundish largemouths on Saturday among assorted other fish. Shallow cranks were working for me. One of the lures that worked on Saturday was lost to an immovable object at the bottom of Mitchell lakes so I'd been pretty bummed about that. But a BPS egg had raised my spirits by attracting one of the 18 inchers late Saturday afternoon.

I had not planned on fishing Easter morning which, this year,  coincided with my wedding anniversary. But then my wife said, "Why not? "  Good enough for me!

I headed to a newly discovered pond around 630 AM and was quickly catching 13 to 16 inch bass on an Egg, a  BPS inline spinner and a KVD black/gray shallow crank.  I was ready to move on but decided to hit my original spot,  close to my car, one more time.

On the second cast,  I felt a light hit and tightened up the line just to be sure. The line was moving so I gave it good hookset. The rest was the joy of reeling in a big fish knowing that it was solidly hooked. It measured at around 19 inches, and fat as heck.

Good report, nice to hear about ponds that survived the winter kill with healthy looking bass. Looks like you may have yourself a honey hole there.

Great story redhook! It is very rewarding when a newly found body of water produces. It was my anniversary on the 21st and my wife always lets me go fishing on that day. I guess we have a couple of keepers!
