Date Of My Catch: 7/4/14
You gotta love fishing during the week on a holiday, right? Caught this little 4lb piggy at a subdivision pond behind my brother's house in plainfield. Started at about 5:30 am with just a green pumpkin baby paca craw and hit about 8-10 within the first 30 minutes. all were in the 2.5-3lb range. Decided that I wanted to go for something a little bigger. Bigger lure, bigger fish, right? Tied on a black and green pumpkin football jig with a green pumpkin paca chunk trailer. First cast........BAM! Hit it like a freight train. I didn't realize it at the time, but I had a small audience, by way of a guy, his wife, and their 2 kids watching me fight it. As soon as I landed her, went right to the bps digital scale. 4.1 was the official weight. I showed the kids what a "big" fish looks like and they were stoked. The guy said he lived there and couldnt believe there were fish that big in the pond. Have I inadvertently sparked an interest for him and his kids? Either way....an awesome start to the holiday for me. Happy 4th of July to you all.
