Date Of My Catch: 04/19/2014

Location: Aurora, IL

Lure / Bait: BPS Rattle Shad Gold

Saturday brought great weather and the desire to hook into some bass. I have been rather slow in the fish catching department and many people on DuPageAngler.com and Facebook started talking a little about how I just might be a fishing flash in the pan. DA member DarkStar and I decided that we better do whatever we can to get my fishing "mojo" back and in a hurry.

We headed to a local pond in Aurora and the buzz on the site and DA's Facebook page was saying that the particular pond we were going to was in fact producing nice catch and release bass but they were NOT hitting on lipless crank baits. That kind of energized and bummed me out at the same time. The lipless crank is one of my all time favorite go to spring time lure. I thought I better bring my collection of relic lipless baits just in case.

I met DuPage Angler Darkstar at approximately 1:30 PM. Not really the most productive time of the day for most bodies of water, but this particular spot in Aurora is different. It really doesn't start to heat up until 3 or 4 PM. I caught a few small bass on a Booyah Super Shad spinner and a Bomber Baby Bass but nothing really to write home about.

Once we reached the tick infested south side of the pond I decided to tie on a BPS Rattle Shad Gold. Within a few minutes I landed my first respectable fish. By the end of the outing I ended up with 9 landed and 3 lost. I had one heck of an awesome day and I can't wait to fish with Darkstar again. He was very funny when he described how happy I was to finally get my mojo back!

Nice bass there.

Agreed. Funny, yet impressive! A sight to behold. But hey, it works! Nicely done Marty. Glad to see you're back in the swing of things. We gotta get out together soon.
