Category: Catch Of The Day Bass
Written by DuPage Angler Nick Santos
On my first trip to the river this season, I could not have had better luck. My buddy and I were fishing the West Branch of the DuPage. We typically wet wade the river when we go, but at the time, neither of us had the correct clothes to do so. We were both fishing chigger craws (my go to river bait). A few casts in to the trip, I landed a perfect cast right past a brush pile. After I hopped the craw a couple times, I thought I got stuck in a log, but set the hook anyways. All of a sudden, the drag started peeling and I knew I had a fish. After a good fight and a hell of an aerial show, I barely landed this gorgeous 18" smallie. This is currently my best fish out of the Dupe to date. Thanks for looking and happy fishing!
