New DuPage Angler Member Honeyhole77 With An Impressive Caught & Released Hidden Lake Bass
So I set out on Tuesday morning for some early morning fishing at Hidden Lake in the Dupage Forrest Preserves. Before heading to the lake I remembered that I recently lost my favorite Silver/Black Rattle trap, so I popped in Wal-Mart and purchased a new one.
It was a perfect morning, low 60's already with complete sunshine and a slight wind ( which for Hidden Lake is a blessing) I got out on the lake around 8:45am. I started out at my usual spot, on the far side of the lake by the beaver hole. I was probably on my 10th cast, when I go snagged on a stump, or at least I thought I had.
After a full yanks my line was light again and as I reeled in my line, about 15 feet from the shore I finally realized that it was not snag but rather a PIG. I fought the fish for about 10 minutes of letting the drag out until she finally tired.
When I pulled her into shore I snapped a few pictures and measured her length. She came in @ 21" and between 5-6lbs! What a great day fishing. :)
