Finally got out to the neighborhood retention pond this morning. Rigged one rod with a slip bobber and ice jig for the panfish, and the other with a spoon I had just ordered on-line --- a Luhr-Jensen "Quiver" Spoon. Had ordered it thinking of salmon and trout, but thought I'd give it a try. Cast out the spoon, and let it sink for a couple of seconds, then retrieved it --- the package said a stop and go retrieve was best. Gave the rod a slight twitch, and bang!, first cast of the Spring, first Bass.

First Fatty Bass Caught by DuPage Angler Brim Reaper

The treble hook on that spoon was catching lots of vegetation, so I switched to a single hook this morning, and rigged it with a 3" Gulp minnow weedless. Lost one, had a couple strikes and finally landed this one:

Still looking for my first panfish of the Spring, but I guess I can wait!
