DuPage Angler Splotch With Incredible DuPage County Crappie
I was fishing the northern part of Mallard Lake Forest Preserve on Saturday and had already caught three keeper bass. I was fishing a fallen tree that a beaver cut down. My friend had two fish hit and drag hits line into the submerged branches of the tree. He lost both fish. A few minutes after he lost his fish my bobber went down (we were using golden roaches) and I reeled in what looked like a blue bass at first. Once I got a good view of the fish I saw that it was the biggest crappie of my life. I was sitting on the tree over the water so I handed my pole to my friend on the shore as he gave me my net. The crappie measured to sixteen inches and one pound eleven ounces.
