After a successful day of gill fishing at a pond 2 minutes from home, my friend, James, and I decided we would try to go for some bigger toothy critters the next day. So, we shot up to lake Harrier in attempt to catch some walleyes, bass, crappies, and perch. And, we did just that. The day started off by me finding a school of small crappies/big perch and tearing into them. James caught one little walleye off a slender spoon. Additionally, he caught various panfish. Then, James dropped down a minnow with a splitshot down the hole and caught a nice 18.5 walleye. After squeezing him through 5 inch hole with 3 lb. test, he was ours. After a few pictures and quick celebration, he swam back down the hole to see another day. Later, I was fishing for gills, crappies, and perch with a small tungsten jig and two spikes when I hooked into a small 1lb bass. After releasing him I jumped to another hole where I hooked into something that made that bass feel like a feather. Carefully, I pulled up the 18.5 inch walleye with 2lb. test. Another awesome fish! It isn’t every day that between you and your friend you can catch two 18.5 inch walleyes through the ice! Especially one being on a small tungsten jig and two spikes!
