I've been getting my boys out to a local pond to give the 'gills a workout. Our mainstay has been a tiny pink and white tipped with a waxworm and fished about 24" beneath a small foam float. Hemostats are at the ready for any that get hooked deep. We've managed to rack up some nice numbers and sizes, although we let everything go. Some of the bigger 'gills really give a nice fight on light line.

Very nice fish. I can't wait to try the new plastics that northland came out with called impulse. The tapeworm there minnow one and mayfly one I know the panfish will love them both open water and threw the ice. They also come scented.

I'm hoping to do the same thing this year Marty! I caught a lot of gills and crappie on Berkley power grubs last year but toward the end of the season I started using the Kalin's Triple Threat grubs and they have much better action..

I can't wait until spring. I am going to find me a nice jighead with a Berkley type grub on the end and I am going to catch a 1 pounder this season. CSimon do you have some small jig heads at your factory?
