DuPage County - Park District Pond
DuPage Angler Waggs With Park District 7 Pound Bass
Just went out around 9 AM today with my friend namrehsif to wrangle a hog. He planned on showing me his latest hot spot where he has been catching nice fish. There is was a nice flow of water from the recent storms and the plan was to fish just beyond the moving water. I was fishing some lures that i had just purchased. I started with a Koppers Live target frog which i have been having a blast with, and i got a couple of hits with that, but no hook ups.
Namrehsif hooked up a 2lb bass after 15 min of fishing with the "egg". I stopped getting bass to hit the frog so i decided to try a massive new lure called the kickin' minnow. It is a swim bait which has great swimming action and is about 7 inches long. I started casting along the shore instead of the running water because there wasn't much room there. I was just reeling nice and slow when there was a massive weight on the end of my line. I set the hook hoping it wasn't a snag (i truly didn't expect to hook a fish with this lure). The line started darting everywhere and then he jumped! What a beast! He fought pretty hard and ripped on my drag. It was exhilarating bringing that hog in. Namrehsif took my pole and i grabbed him. I was in shock and shaking from excitement. Amazing DuPage fishing.
