DuPage Angler

Catches Slab Bluegills Near Blackwell Forest Preserve

Warrenville, IL – St. James Forest Preserve

The DuPage County Forest Preserve system has been doing a great job providing well managed ponds and lakes for residents to enjoy. Several of these open spaces that have old ponds or lakes that were stocked with fish many years ago.

Today, these bodies of water hold some rather nice fish that are fun for even the avid angler to catch (and hopefully release).

by DuPage Angler Toadfish:

Toadfish of DuPageAngler.com learned at an early age that the really big bluegills will feed like a bass, but likes offerings that are in the upper 1/3 of the of the water depth. Catching big bluegills, crappie and sunfish on top water lures is very exciting. It can be difficult, but once the feeding frenzy starts, hold on for some real action.

Lure: Heddon Torpedo

Conditions: Sunny / Hot

Time: 1:00 PM

Location: Forest Preserve

I wonder if ST. James is going to be any good this year. It wasn't that great last season.
